So this week has flown by, especially as it started for me on Sunday!
We were attending the Event Organisers Summit at Whittleberry Hall in Northamptonshire, which is a great way to meet clients, but is essentially speed dating for business!
As a supplier you get to choose your shortlist of clients that you wish to see, they decide if they like the look of you and put you on their list. The organisers then put your schedule together for two days and off you go.
It’s a great way to meet prospective clients and talk to them about what improvements we’ve been doing here and find out if their event needs would fit in the venue. Continue reading
Brighton and Hove is a city known for its green policies and eco-friendly nature, it is also the world’s first designated One Planet City. The One Planet approach aims to create a future where it’s easy, attractive and affordable for all of us to lead happy and healthy lives, using a fair share of the earth’s resources.
It was therefore a perfect match for the Brighton Centre to hold its first Sustainable Event: The Future and You on Wednesday 5th June. It was a beautiful day in Brighton with the sun shining and the sea at a perfect state of calm. The event drew in over 60 conference, exhibition and event organisers, which exceeded all expectations. Many thanks to all those who took the time to join us at the Brighton Centre yesterday for Sustainable Events: The Future and You; I hope everyone who came found the day as enjoyable and informative as I did.
You can view the Sustainable Event Report from the day here. This is what we can now produce for events that take place at the Brighton Centre should event organisers want to work with us using the Sustainable Events Programme.
It was fantastic to see so many people discussing sustainability and thinking beyond what it was considered to be and instead being excited about all the different elements that can be worked into your event or venue.
This morning I attended the Juice 107 Breakfast networking meeting at Brighton Racecourse. It’s always a good fun morning, hosted by Juice with a scrummy breakfast provided. The morning starts with a half hour of chatting and networking over a coffee before all being seated and then the fun begins with a few quick words from supporters and sponsors.
Well, it seemed that last week passed in a busy blur and my feet hardly touched the ground!
We started off by welcoming The Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland SCTS, for their annual conference. There were some amazing topics discussed and the poster boards we had around the Brighton Centre went well above my head! I guess that’s why I’m not a cardiothoracic surgeon……We look forward to welcoming them back in the future.
Then on Tuesday we were off bright and early to Excel for International Confex 2013. This year we were stand sharing with our colleagues from VisitBrighton and other venues in the City. Continue reading
The time has come again for International Confex, and we are delighted to confirm that we will be showcasing the Brighton Centre again. Taking place between the 19-21 March at ExCel London, we are exhibiting alongside VisitBrighton on stand K641.
International Confex is the UK’s leading exhibition for the events industry, organised annually to bring together venues, destinations and support services from across the world. Attracting over 7,000 decision makers, Confex is the perfect platform for anyone organising an upcoming event to compare and evaluate their options, placing them quite literally side-by-side. Throughout the event, a number of seminars with expert guest speakers will also allow professionals in the industry the chance to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the market further.
This week the tables are turning, and instead of us hosting a conference or event, we are going along to exhibit at one. Between Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st of February, our venue Sales Manager Liz is heading up to London to showcase our venue in a top networking event, hosted by the Buyers Network Club (BNC).
The BNC Global Event Show is the exciting new exhibition that allows leading event planners and suppliers the opportunity to come together and showcase their offering to industry leaders and vice versa. All attendees are members of the BNC and are there looking for the best possible services available to enhance and make their upcoming events.
Last week I attended the ABPCO conference and AGM at Broadway House in central London. Broadway house is a great venue, tucked away conveniently opposite St James tube station. It probably had the best seats I’ve ever sat on in a conference venue, really comfortable!
The theme running through the day was thinking about the future.
Firstly, we’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year, and hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Our New Year has certainly got off to a terrific start, as, it is with great pleasure that we can today announce…we’ve been shortlisted in the M&IT Awards! We are absolutely delighted and would like to thank all of our clients, visitors, staff and colleagues for your support over this past year that has enabled us to make it into the final five for the ‘Best Value for Money Conference Venue’ category.
We really enjoyed putting together our tips fora successful time away at conference so we’ve put our heads back together to think purely about how to get the most out of social events.
One of the main reasons that people site for attending a conference is the networking opportunities; making the social events more than just a drinking session! I remember being at an ICCA event years ago and being told that you will find out more from conference during your time at the bar then at sessions and you know what, it’s true. Peoples barriers come down in more social atmospheres be it over breakfast in the hotel or a glass of wine at a gala dinner so check out the tips below fora successful time at your networking events or gala dinner. Remember to read the conference tips first too as they also apply to this situation but mainly these are the ones that are the most important to keep in mind when at a social event;
