Howard Barden – Head of Tourism & Venues
Born in Cambridge and raised in Devon, my career started at the Riviera Centre in Torquay working as Halls Supervisor. Climbing through the ranks led me onto the position of Operations Manager.
Keen to develop my skills and looking for a new challenge, I relocated to Brighton as House and Events Manager at the Brighton Centre. I immediately knew what an exciting opportunity this was and quickly became a key member of the team. I progressed onto the position of Operations Manager, then Commercial Director and then onto General Manager of the Brighton Centre; a role I thoroughly enjoyed. I am now proudly the Head of Tourism & Venues for the city of Brighton. I have a real passion and commitment to raising our standards and facilities and constantly strive to deliver excellence to all of our visitors to the city.

Liz Brand – Sales Manager
I was brought up in a small town in Derbyshire, studied Law & Psychology for my degree at Leicester and I rather randomly fell into financial recruitment as my first job. I moved to Brighton in 1998 to work for the Publican Newspaper in property and recruitment advertising, then went onto Yellow Pages and the Grocer Magazine, both in advertising. My path then lead to the VisitBrighton Conference team and Destination Manager position. I am now happily in place as Sales Manager at the Brighton Centre.
My role involves managing a lovely team, managing existing business and winning new conference and event business for the venue, and representing the City at major events and trade shows.

Louise Wyborn – Conference Sales
I’m originally from a small town near Bath in the South West.
I have always worked in Sales, starting in the travel industry and then moving onto events. I have been a part of the Conference Sales Team at the Brighton Centre since October 2006. My work involves being the first point of contact that clients have with the venue, submitting proposals, through to securing and contracting new and repeat conference and exhibition business.
I enjoy helping clients to understand how the venue can work for their event and working out the finer details to ensure they are confident that we can meet all their needs to ensure a successful event here.

Rebecca Esteves – Revenue & Commerce Manager
I’m Brighton born and bred, and though I’ve had my stints in other places I always come back here as I’m proud to call Brighton home. I have worked at the venue in an array of different departments including Conference Sales and now as Revenue and Commerce Manager. I work with the staff here to ensure we are absolutely maximising the venues fiscal value and also work with promoters to bring concerts into the venue. Having an understanding of the live music, MICE and business tourism industries is vital to the role – which certainly keeps me very busy!
I first started out at the Brighton Centre as a steward many, many years ago – working on concerts and seeing people’s faces when their favourite act came onstage filled me with joy. Music has always been my main passion in life so now being the one booking the live acts in is a dream come true.

Carrie Walsh – Venues Business and Operations Manager
Originally from Warwickshire, I moved to Brighton in 1979 after completing my studies in Hotel and Catering Management. I worked at the Brighton Metropole Hotel for many years, initially in the F&B department then became Exhibition Halls Manager in 1987. I moved to London in 1989 and worked at London Arena in Docklands and then at the Wembley Complex. Following working for 5 years at The RSA, I have recently been working on several short term contracts within the Events Industry, including working at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi.
I am really enjoying being back working and living in Brighton. I am responsible for the business and operational elements for the Brighton Centre. My main aim is to always focus on what our customers need to deliver excellent events with us whilst at the same time striving to exceed our customers’ expectations.
