What a week!

Well, it seemed that last week passed in a busy blur and my what-a-week-sound-button-anytime-novelty-gift-1hyo3446_518_1feet hardly touched the ground!

We started off by welcoming The Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland SCTS, for their annual conference. There were some amazing topics discussed and the poster boards we had around the Brighton Centre went well above my head! I guess that’s why I’m not a cardiothoracic surgeon……We look forward to welcoming them back in the future.

Then on Tuesday we were off bright and early to Excel for International Confex 2013. This year we were stand sharing with our colleagues from VisitBrighton and other venues in the City.

Our Brighton Conference Supplies Store looked great and had lots of quirky products you might find when hosting your event here in Brighton such as ‘Sea Cider’, ‘Gloriously Nutty Networking Cookies’ and ‘Chunky Keynote Chutney’. You could even come along and help yourself to some pick and mix (which everyone loves – admit it!). It was a great opportunity to connect with potential clients and meet up with industry professionals and be part of the three day event.

Admittedly, feet did start hurting fairly early on, but the team here are really not into sensible shoes!

Then I had to get myself all glammed up to attend the M&IT Awards, held this year at The Battersea Evolution. I hadn’t been to the venue before, but was really impressed with it.

Situated in an exclusive site in picturesque Battersea Park this purpose built facility is huge and very impressive.

A champagne reception started off the night which was a great opportunity to catch up with people in the industry I hadn’t seen in a while, and then we moved in to the main room which was dressed beautifully with sparkly lights on the drapes of the ceiling changing colour and reflecting in the glassware and cutlery on the tables.

I was fortunate enough to be on a great table with fellow Brightonians from AVT  and the team from Venuedirectory.com

Kate Silverton from BBC News presented the awards and was the consummate professional. We were up for Best Value Conference Venue, but sadly we missed out on the award. However that won’t stop us for next year – so watch out!  Congratulations to our caterers Kudos who won Best Catering Company, I think for the fourth year running!

After the evening we were back off to Confex the next day; however I had to make my exit from the exhibition a little early as we were hosting a fam trip in the evening. So a quick hop and a jump on the DLR and train from London Bridge, I was back in Brighton in no time!

We welcomed event organisers from Grass Roots, MCI and The Conference People who joined us for dinner and to see The Script who were playing in the venue. Once we had all fought our way through the hoards of screaming girls and showed them around the venue a good night was had by all.

After a quick overnight turnaround the venue was all sparkling and clean ready to welcome in the British Red Cross, ready for its annual National Assembly to set up on Thursday, whilst Louise in the team spent the final day representing us at Confex.

Blimey, what a week! Is it time to sit down yet?

Not here though, there’s always something going on at the Brighton Centre!
